The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. He/she works under the supervision of a licensed nurse. The PCA participates in the orientation and training of personnel.
Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film. Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors. Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician. Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.

Utilizes radiographic techniques under the direct supervision of a registered technologist and/or physician, to obtain diagnostic/operative images. Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: Education: Must be a 2nd year student in an accredited Diagnostic Imaging Program. BLS certification must be current or completed within first 60 days. Experience: Must be knowledgeable of all basic imaging procedures and no issues with track of graduation. Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions 1. Follows prescribed techniques in administering general and specific radiographs. 2. Produce high quality radiographs on all patient age groups while explaining the procedure to the patient. 3. Positions and/or immobilizes patient for procedure, selects appropriate technical factor for specific body part, and reviews images for quality and accuracy of positioning. 4. Willingly helps in other departments or other team members within the Imaging department whenever the needs arise. 5. Assists Radiologist with Invasive / Non-Invasive Imaging procedures. 6. Transports patients to and from floor if needed while confirming face-to-face hand off. 7. Promotes a professional image by adhering to established dress codes. 8. Completes work assignments within a reasonable time frame. 9. Must have all images checked by registered technologist prior to completing for Radiologist interpretation. 10. Reports to supervisor all discrepancies in the work environment. 11. Utilizes PACS and EMR correctly and efficiently. 12. Adhere to all TJC standards. 13. Demonstrates courteous behavior through polite and respectful communication with all co-workers, patients, and guests. 14. Adheres to all Compliance laws and regulations and reports any suspected unethical activities to the proper individual. 15. Use of Safe Radiation Shielding practices at all times. Under the direction of the Radiology Director, and radiologist, performs imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgement. Responsibilities include knowledge of all Mammography / Radiology procedures, proper patient positioning, exposures, Utilization of PACS, implementation of patient charges, and assists physicians as required. Will be available for emergency on-call procedures as required, or set forth. The RN Program Coordinator, Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (MBS) is responsible for the coordination of efficient, safe, and timely patient care to patients served at DMH. The Coordinator actively participates in the development and implementation of goals, strategies, and tactics to support the continued growth and success of the DMH Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Program. The Coordinator assists in the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP) accreditation process and ensures continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements. The Coordinator serves as the designated MBS Program Coordinator for purposes of MBSAQIP accreditation. The Coordinator is a registered nurse who works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, advance practice providers, health psychologists, registered nurses, nutritionists, medical assistants, and appointment schedulers to plan, direct, and evaluate the care provided to MBS patients. He/she must possess expertise in nursing practice, clinical care standards, and workflows in addition to MBSAQIP accreditation requirements. The Coordinator relies on evidence-based practice standards to assure consistent high quality care and a positive patient and family experience across the continuum of care. This involves coordination of meetings, data collection, and patient and staff education and care coordination with inpatient and outpatient teams at DMH. The Coordinator maintains a database for quality metrics and identifies and implements process improvement initiatives.
