The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is an 11 bed ICU that cares for critically ill children at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children. The PICU is staffed by RNs, NPs, and Pediatric Intensivist who work closely together with a supportive multidisciplinary care team to provide acute care to children from 0-18 years of age.  We offer a progressive educational program to train staff in pediatric critical care to include monthly inservices from our physicians. The Robotic Scrub Assistant, under the guidance of the Operating Surgeon, and RN, provides services to surgical patients, maintaining an aseptic environment.  The Robotic Scrub Assistant functions in all traditional duties of a scrub assistant as well as the scrub assistant for robotic surgery, in all areas (facilities) that a robot is utilized.

Provides technical support to the lab by receiving/processing requisitions/specimens and ordering specified lab tests according to standard operating procedures.  Responds to phone requests and enters lab test data into computer.

Executes appropriate patient care by assisting the physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures. Supports team members before, during, and following procedures to assure optimal patient care. Registry may define responsibilities that are specific to each registry but does not limit activities under direct physician supervision.
