The Registered Nurse (RN) organizes and coordinates delivery of nursing care to groups of patients in compliance with hospital and departmental policies, protocols and procedures. He/she provides direct patient care by monitoring physiological and behavioral status, evaluating patient progress and the effectiveness of interventions, and by performing treatments and procedures. He/she recognizes, reports and documents clinical observations. The Registered Nurse participates in orientation, training and management of personnel.
The Medical Assistant (MA) delivers direct patient care in the clinical setting beginning with escorting the patient to the examination room, performing any treatments and procedures required by the physician, and ending with the discharging of the patient.
