The RN indentifies patient needs and prioritizes care based on continuous assessment, executes therapeutic physician orders and therapeutic nursing interventions.  The RN evaluates the patient’s response to care and the attainment of or progress toward expected outcomes.  The RN is accountable for outcomes of patient care delivered during the assigned shift.

Processes all assigned insurance payor (i.e. BCBS, Cigna, Aetna, UHC, etc.) billing of accounts daily to ensure the claims received the appropriate action needed to release timely and accurately for reimbursement.     

Performs medication order entry and verification. Clarifies and/or resolves issues with any aspect of medication orders as necessary, including but not limited to: therapeutic duplication, medication/dose/frequency appropriateness, medication interactions, dosage form clarification, renal dose adjustments. Monitors drug therapy to improve patient outcome and quality of care, recommends rational and cost-effective pharmacotherapeutics alternatives and provides accurate and efficient medication distribution. Implements and evaluates nutritional support and pharmacokinetic regimens. Supervises pharmacy technical staff.

Communication of the understanding of why specimen collection requirements are what they are is key to success.  The position requires the ability to maintain any equipment used by the phlebotomy team, train staff, manage the schedule with adequate coverage as needed, assess competency, interview, select new team members, evaluate staff performance, and manage disciplinary action as needed in compliance with department and hospital policies.    The position may require teaching, purchasing, managing inventory, writing and implementing procedures and other duties as may arise.  

Maintains established standards of care, policies, objective, and goals in administering professional nursing care to all patients needing ICU, PCU, or IDU services.  The RN is accountable for the outcome of patient care delivered during the assigned shift.

Performs ultrasonography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision.  Uses independent judgment ingenuity and initiative to perform state-of-the art diagnostic ultrasound procedures.  

Provides direct care to employees using the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Performs occupational health related functions for employees such as phlebotomy, immunizations, respiratory fit testing, and vision screening. Serves as a role model for office staff in areas of communication, customer service and clinical skills. Coordinates injured worker's documentation with Comp 1.
