The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a broad array of nursing tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider. The individual provides direct patient care for diverse patient populations that vary in gender, age, socioeconomic status, education, physical and mental abilities, locations, sexual lifestyle, and racial and ethnic background. The LPN implements technical nursing procedures according to established policies and procedures and plan of care, assists and reinforces routine patient education, and documents patient care appropriately. The LPN communicates and interacts with other team members to facilitate teamwork and delivery of quality care.
This position represents patient care directed toward critical care areas, step down areas, general care areas and critical care transports.
Executes appropriate patient care by assisting the physicians with diagnostic and interventional procedures. Responsible for the analysis selection/design, implementation, and maintenance of computer software. Takes a lead role in the support of application utilization, and has daily interactions with all user areas to solicit and satisfy requirements. Initiates and leads process and IT re-design, and system implementation.
Responsible for the collection of patient account balances.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and such other office equipment as necessary. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to work in an environment which can be very stressful.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent contact with patients, physicians and staff. Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people. Work may be stressful at times. Evening and Weekend work may be required.
