The Patient Care Aide works under the direction of the RN/LPN. The responsibilities of the Patient Care Aide include providing direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards. This position is responsible for the accurate assistance of pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to both in-patients and out-patients. Computer entry and processing of patient drug orders; sterile and non-sterile preparations of liquids and solid dosage forms; care and ordering of supplies and equipment; training of trainees; processing of admittance, discharge and transfer of patient drugs; performing miscellaneous related tasks.
Performs physical therapy procedures and other related tasks under the direction of a Registered Physical Therapist (RPT) and assists the RPT in patient activities. Supervises technicians, volunteers and students as assigned.

The work is performed in compliance with the established policies of the health care system and reflects the philosophy of the hospital, as well as the mission of the department of nursing.
