The Emergency Medical Tech.- BASIC performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to patients being treated and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The EMT-BASIC also performs the responsibilities of driving emergency vehicles providing due regard for the safety of others while operating the ambulance. The EMT–BASIC performs patient care activities when attending to the patient in the patient compartment of the ambulance. The EMT-Basic performs Life Support procedures within their scope of practice as approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Division..
Acts as collaborative member of the clinical team in providing continuity of and quality patient care. Responsible for registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and answering of telephone. Initiates patient care assessments, gathers vital signs, prepares patient and exam room for procedures, and collects specimens. Provides patient education and support as needed to assist physician, patient and family. Returns patient phone calls.

A patient care aide assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care for the acute and chronically ill patients under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse.
CRNA practice includes pre-anesthetic evaluation and preparation, anesthesia induction, maintenance and emergence, post-anesthetic care, pain management and responding to emergency situations related to airway management and cardiac life support techniques. The CRNA cares for patients at all acuity levels across the lifespan in a variety of settings for procedures including, but not limited to, surgical, obstetrical, diagnostic, therapeutic, and pain management.
Performs ultrasonography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Uses independent judgment ingenuity and initiative to perform state-of-the art diagnostic ultrasound procedures.
