This position administers life support care to sick and injured persons in pre-hospital setting, in accordance withstatewide Treatment Protocols and HH EMS Medical Control Physicians, as authorized and directed by physician and/orparamedic.

The Emergency Medical Tech.- BASIC performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to patients being treated and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The EMT-BASIC also performs the responsibilities of driving emergency vehicles providing due regard for the safety of others while operating the ambulance. The EMT–BASIC performs patient care activities when attending to the patient in the patient compartment of the ambulance. The EMT-Basic performs Life Support procedures within their scope of practice as approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Division..

Performs peripheral vascular and/or echocardiographic procedures at a high technical level. Uses independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative to perform state-of-the art diagnostic ultrasound procedures. Administers contrast medications as prescribed and under the supervision of a physician.

The Receptionist is the first person the patient sees and, therefore, must present a caring and friendly attitude. He/she answers the telephone and relays messages to appropriate departments or personnel. The Receptionist is capable of using the computer software to input patient and billing information. The Receptionist is responsible for the collection of any monies and the posting of such to the correct patient account. Perform opening and closing procedures of the facility as scheduled.
