The ER Attendant performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the emergent and urgent needs and comfort of patients while assisting the RN and physician with functions in the Emergency Department. The phlebotomist works under the immediate supervision of the Medical Technologist/Technician, is primarily responsible for the phlebotomy procedures, including veni-punctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, bleeding times, urine collection and drug screen collections. The phlebotomist is also responsible for processing in the reference lab reports and for sorting/charting various lab results. Serves as a liaison between the Hospital all outside collection agencies. Assists the department manager to manage all external collection agency relationships by coordinating all efforts to perform month end vendor reconciliation and making recommendation of reconciling items to department manager. Corrects any errors, including misapplied payments, reversed or posted court costs and overpayments from insurance errors. Prepares paperwork for small claims court on accounts when a signed affidavit is requested. Must have a working knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practice Act and state and federal laws concerning collection activities.
