The primary responsibility of the communications representative is to answer, screen and process all nurse call and PBX calls from patients, staff and the general public and dispatch, page or transfer in a prompt, accurate and courteous manner to the appropriate party or department. The EMT –ADVANCED perfoms patient care activities when attending to the patient in the patient compartment of the ambulance. The EMT-ADVANCED performs Advanced Life Support procedures within their scope of practice as approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Division.
