Couriers will provide transportation support to specific entities within the Huntsville Hospital system and/or Health Group of Alabama. Responsibilities include the pick up and delivery of lab specimens, supplies, reports, and mail. Other responsibilities include the transporting of patients, transporting of employees, greeting of customers (including valet), moving of requested departments, assisting with monthly fire extinguisher checks, and Hazardous surveillance checks. In addition to performing these tasks in a very specific and timely manner, the Courier will also be responsible for documenting all pick-ups and maintaining accurate record files at all times.

The Clinical Tech works under the direction of the RN/LPN. The responsibilities of the clinical tech include providing for direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards. The Paramedic performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to patients being treated and transported to the hospital by ambulance.  The EMT-Paramedic also performs the responsibilities of driving emergency vehicles providing due regard for the safety of others while operating the ambulance. The EMT-Paramedic performs patient care activities when attending to the patient in the patient compartment of the ambulance. The EMT-Paramedic performs Life Support procedures within their scope of practice as approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Division.

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a broad array of nursing tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider. The individual provides direct patient care for diverse patient populations that vary in gender, age, socioeconomic status, education, physical and mental abilities, locations, sexual lifestyle, and racial and ethnic background. The LPN implements technical nursing procedures according to established policies and procedures and plan of care, assists and reinforces routine patient education, and documents patient care appropriately.  The LPN communicates and interacts with other team members to facilitate teamwork and delivery of quality care.

The 3W&C Surgical Unit at the Huntsville Hospital for Women/Children campus offers an exciting  workflow for the staff. This adult surgical floor receives a variety of patients that includes GYN, GYN Oncology, Breast Cancer, Postpartum, low risk Antepartum, ENT, Plastics, & Pain patient diagnoses.  Orientation consists of working with experienced staff and length of orientation depends on each new employee and their level of experience.
