The Paramedic performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to patients being treated and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The EMT-Paramedic also performs the responsibilities of driving emergency vehicles providing due regard for the safety of others while operating the ambulance. The EMT-Paramedic performs patient care activities when attending to the patient in the patient compartment of the ambulance. The EMT-Paramedic performs Life Support procedures within their scope of practice as approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Division.
Utilizes radiographic techniques under the direction of the Physician, to obtain diagnostic/operative images.
A registered nurse provides and coordinates total nursing care for patients maintaining standards for professional nursing practice in the clinical setting and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Nursing Care Division and Medical Center policies and procedures.
A patient care aide assists patients with activities of daily living, provides basic nursing care for the acute and chronically ill patients under the supervision and direction of the Registered Nurse.
The Scrub Assistant, under the guidance of the RN provides services to surgical patients, maintaining an aseptic environment. The scrub assistant assists in the transporting of patients.
Provides assistance to Imaging Technologists and provides patient transport to and from and/or between nursing units and ancillary departments.
Acts as collaborative member of the clinical team in providing continuity of and quality patient care. Responsible for registration, insurance verification, scheduling, and answering of telephone. Initiates patient care assessments, gathers vital signs, prepares patient and exam room for procedures, and collects specimens. Manages the operation of the chart analysis and release of information section of the medical records department. Supervises HIM specialists performing chart analysis and medical staff notification of incomplete charts and other duties as assigned. Oversees release of information through contract vendor. Serves as a liaison between HIM and other medical and administrative staff and outside agencies as necessary.
