The Radiation Therapist applies ionizing radiation to patients in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist, Physicist, and Dosimetrist. This position functions under the authority of the Clinical Oncology Manager and reports to the Director of the Cancer Center. The Radiation Therapist assumes responsibility for all therapy modalities as they relate to simulation and treatment of patients. The Medical Assistant (MA) delivers direct patient care in the clinical setting beginning with escorting the patient to the examination room, performing any treatments and procedures required by the physician, and ending with the discharging of the patient.  He/she recognizes, reports, and documents clinical observations.  He/she is responisble for coding the procedures correctly.

Responsible for overseeing processing of clinic and hospital professional charges including updating of procedure and diagnosis codes in database coordinating reports and maintaining fee ticket files.

Responsible for pulmonary diagnostic procedures.  Secondary clinical responsibility includes knowledge and assistance with all aspects of pulmonary rehabilitation and smoking cessation.  Helps with the overall successful operation of the CLH and related services consistent with the philosophies and organizational goals of Huntsville Hospital.
