The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) performs a broad array of nursing tasks under the supervision of a registered nurse or provider. The individual provides direct patient care for diverse patient populations that vary in gender, age, socioeconomic status, education, physical and mental abilities, locations, sexual lifestyle, and racial and ethnic background. The LPN implements technical nursing procedures according to established policies and procedures and plan of care, assists and reinforces routine patient education, and documents patient care appropriately. The LPN communicates and interacts with other team members to facilitate teamwork and delivery of quality care.

Performs a wide variety of technical patient care activities and clerical support related to patients admitted to Emergency Services. Assists nursing personnel by performing routine patient care activities.
The Patient Care Aide works under the direction of the RN/LPN. The responsibilities of the Patient Care Aide include providing direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards. The Patient Care Aide must exhibit the ability to work with people from diverse socio-economic backgrounds; to organize, set priorities and manage multiple priorities, and to adapt to a rapidly changing environment.
Answers telephones, greeting all callers in a professional manner. Listens to requests from patients or customers and accurately dispatches requests and information to the appropriate persons. Accurately communicates and dispatches Emergency Codes. Promptly and accurately initiates offline procedures when indicated. Responsibilities include maintaining equipment, activity logs and checklists. Answers multiple incoming telephone lines to the hospital switchboard. Obtains necessary information and transfers calls to correct department or patient room extension. Provides information to callers as appropriate.

He/she provides direct patient care by monitoring physiological and behavioral status, evaluating patient progress and the effectiveness of interventions, and by performing treatments and procedures. He/she recognizes, reports and documents clinical observations. The Registered Nurse participates in orientation, training and management of personnel.
To provide clinical assessments on potential patients of all ages and to provide accurate assessment data to the provider to determine if inpatient psychiatric care is needed. To provide alternatives and appropriate referrals for patients who are not in need of psychiatric inpatient admission. Functions as a liaison between the patient and the on-call psychiatrist or other personnel as appropriate. Keeps clear and accurate documentation and completes the admission process when necessary. Possesses a strong knowledge and ability to document using appropriate psychiatric terminology.
Performs clinical nuclear medicine testing including general studies, cardiac studies, and the computer interactions associated with these studies.
Contributes to the development of policies, procedures, standards and objectives, and quality assurance needs for the provision of Nuclear Medicine services
