The Emergency Medical Tech.- ADVANCED performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to patients being treated and transported to the hospital by ambulance. The EMT-ADVANCED also performs the responsibilities of driving emergency vehicles providing due regard for the safety of others while operiating the ambulance. The EMT –ADVANCED perfoms patient care activities when attending to the patient in the patient compartment of the ambulance. The EMT-ADVANCED performs Advanced Life Support procedures within their scope of practice as approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Division.
The Registered Nurse (RN) organizes and coordinates delivery of nursing care to groups of patients in compliance with hospital and departmental policies, protocols and procedures. He/she provides direct patient care by monitoring physiological and behavioral status, evaluating patient progress and the effectiveness of interventions, and by performing treatments and procedures. The Alternate Transport Service (ATS)- Driver is responsible for the operation of the non-medical transportation vehicle and the transportation of wheelchair bound patients. This position is for a medical physicist who will focus on MRI performance evaluation, quality assurance and MRI Safety across the Huntsville Hospital System. The MRI physicist will serve as the Magnetic Resonance Safety Expert (MRSE) and will assist the MRSO and MRMD when they need assistance or otherwise are unable to answer MR safety questions or situations. Responsibilities for performance evaluation and quality control programs in all modalities will be shared with the rest of the team.

The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit is an 11 bed ICU that cares for critically ill children at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children. The PICU is staffed by RNs, NPs, and Pediatric Intensivist who work closely together with a supportive multidisciplinary care team to provide acute care to children from 0-18 years of age. We offer a progressive educational program to train staff in pediatric critical care to include monthly inservices from our physicians.
