The Paramedic performs a wide variety of patient care activities related to patients being treated and transported to the hospital by ambulance.  The EMT-Paramedic also performs the responsibilities of driving emergency vehicles providing due regard for the safety of others while operating the ambulance. The EMT-Paramedic performs patient care activities when attending to the patient in the patient compartment of the ambulance. The EMT-Paramedic performs Life Support procedures within their scope of practice as approved by the Alabama Department of Public Health EMS Division.

The Patient Care Assistant (PCA) performs various care activities and related services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.  He/she works under the supervision of a licensed nurse.  The PCA participates in the orientation and training of personnel.

The Medical Technician, MLT, CLT is responsible for performing the laboratory procedures in at least three or more functional sections of the clinical laboratory in accordance with the policies and procedures that are in effect.  The Key Areas of the laboratory are Blood Bank, Hematology, Coagulation, Immunology, Chemistry, Urinalysis, and Microbiology. The Patient Care Aide(PCA) works under the direction of the RN/LPN. The responsibilities of the Patient Care Aide include providing direct patient care and maintaining patient care standards. The Hospitality Assistant is responsible for delivering and retrieving patient meal trays, providing individualized assistance to each patient, Hospitality Rounds and nourishment services.

Performs all cashier duties such as being courteous, totaling sales, and providing correct change. Must follow all cashier policies and guidelines daily by maintaining the register keeping it locked at all times. Additional duties may apply such as stocking condiments, cleaning, serving and prepping occasionally. Follows established practices and procedures for patient identification and service. 

The nurse practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice including obtaining comprehensive patient histories, performing complete physical examination, ordering and performing diagnostic testing and screening, diagnosing illness, prescribing both pharmacological and other treatments for patients, and providing health maintenance and promotion interventions such as patient and family education and counseling. Also, the NP assumes accountability for indirect care responsibilities, which support patient care including staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.

The RN Case Manager is to support the physician and interdisciplinary team in facilitating patient care, with the underlying objective of enhancing the quality of clinical outcomes and patient satisfaction while managing the cost of care and providing timely and accurate information to payers. This role integrates and coordinates Utilization management, care coordination and discharge planning functions. The Case Manager is accountable for a designated patient caseload and plans effectively in order to meet patient needs, manage the length of stay, and promote efficient use of resources.
