The Health Care Assistant supports the assigned unit by facilitating communication with patients, staff, physicians, visitors and ancillary departments. The Health Care Assistant directs incoming calls and responds to patient calls, maintains patient charts, unit files and secretarial supply levels and is responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment.

Education required: High school diploma/GED

License, certification and/or registration: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period

Experience: Requires previous clerical experience, preferably in a medical setting. Previous patient care assistant or unit secretary experience preferred.

Additional skills/abilitites: Familiarity with medical terminology
