Overview

Health Information Technician job duties include but are not limited to knowledge of HIPAA compliance, receiving and fulfilling in-coming medical correspondence/form, calls, request from physicians offices, hospitals and patients, fulfilling incoming medical correspondences from the designated assigned work queues, promptly and efficiently. Reports directly to HIM Manager.

Qualifications

Education:  High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:  Previous experience in Medical Records preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities: 

  • Must have detailed knowledge of current HIPAA compliance rules and guidelines.
  • Must be organized
  • Ability to Multi-task
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records lay-out and terminal digit filing systems,
  • Skill in English grammar adn spelling
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, physicians, co-workers, and the public. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. 
  • Ability to file and maintain patient records, files, reports and other correspondence. 
  • Upholds effective work habits including, but not limited to, regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability and promptness.
