Overview

Provides direct services for patients and families by using music as a tool to help them attain and maintain their maximum levels of functioning in the areas of physical, cognitive, communication, spiritual, and social and emotional health. Program planning will be designed to reduce stress, increase adaptive coping, provide normalization, promote social interaction and support developmental integrity.

Qualifications

Education:  :  Minimum completion of a Bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA (American Music Therapy Association) approved program.

Experience:  2+ years experience as a Music Therapist in a healthcare setting preferred. Any experience as a Music Therapist in the NICU setting preferred.

Certification: Maintains board certification through the Certification Board for Music Therapists (MT-BC). Preferred if applicant has or is capable of obtaining NICU-MT

Additional Skills/Abilities:  Ability to develop therapeutic rapport with hospitalized patients of all ages, families, and staff to cope with hospitalization. Excellent communication skills and flexibility are highly desired.
