Under the direct supervision of the Lab Administrative Director, Pre-Analytical Manager and Reference Laboratory Supervisor, the Client Services Representative is responsible for daily interaction with Huntsville Hospital Reference Laboratory clients, In-house clinical staff and Laboratory technical staff regarding lab testing for all patient types. Our client services department routinely responds to telephone inquiries regarding specimen or testing requirements, test result status, courier services and results reporting issues. Client services staff are also responsible for working cooperatively with a variety of customers to ensure complete and accurate documentation related to lab orders and diagnosis code information.
Client services have a support role for the on-going laboratory marketing plans and programs. The client services representative must maintain close coordination with the Laboratory Marketing department.
Education
High School diploma or GED required.
Experience
Previous clinical laboratory experience strongly preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities
Must have excellent communication, analytic/problem solving and multi-tasking skills . Must have the ability to adapt to varied level of workload in a high stress, fast paced, customer service oriented environment with little/no downtime. Prioritize and change tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information and perform detailed computer work while simultaneously talking with customers on the phone. Must be proficient in use of personal computer, word processing applications and have the ability to master various computer programs used in the lab. Must be able to assimilate an overall knowledge of lab medicine and lab systems. Must acquire a general understanding of laboratory operations and detailed knowledge of reference laboratory operations.
