Overview

Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director of Information Systems, provides assistance and coordination to information systems end users.  This includes analyzing business process and user requirements.  Planning and designing interfaces, managing system upgrades and/or enhancements, testing applications, writing application related documentation and resolving system issues and problems. Supervises the work of others.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

 

 

  1. Assists Information Systems Director to insure seamless utilization of clinical application processes and systems.
  2. Manages clinical application staff; providing recommendations on hiring, evaluations and disciplinary actions.
  3. Serves on committees as assigned.
  4. Communicates with visitors, fellow employees, medical staff and guests in a positive and professional manner.  Keeps supervisor and co-workers informed.  Acts as a liaison.
  5. Serves as systems expert for assigned business lines. Meets with users to determine quality of service.  Efficient in completing user requests.  Researches and analyzes computerized system methods and best practices and recommends those best suited for enhancing the productivity and efficiency of DMH operations for assigned business lines.
  6. Provides direct operational support.  Determines specific system and application configurations for assigned business lines. Demonstrates flexibility and creativity in completing regular duties and specially assigned tasks.
  7. Coordinates the planning, design, and deployment of new installations, upgrades and enhancements and the development and implementation of disaster/recovery (downtime) procedures.
  8. Maintains complete and accurate documentation; task and project based.  Utilizes IS Helpdesk software application. Assigns issue priorities and maintains work scheduled required to meet project deadlines.
  9. Works closely with IS technical personnel in planning and problem resolution.
  10. Works with Quality and Interoperability to ensure the Hospital meets its requirements.
  11. Conducts informal education of end users on network operations and applications; promotes use of standard operating practices.  Assesses training needs among system users and actively participates in training activities.
  12. Reports to the hospital, according to departmental procedure on responding to call, if the problem cannot be solved in a remote manner.
  13. Completes special projects as requested by the IS Director.
  14. All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required: Demonstrates advanced technical knowledge and abilities with:

·         Computer software, software design and development, hardware, equipment assembly and installation;

·         Installing, operating, adapting, diagnosing and repairing malfunctions in application software;

·         Oral and written communication;

·         Record and interpret information accurately;

·         Handle multiple duties simultaneously;

·         Use common sense, independent learning, and technical information to solve problems.

 Education: Requires general knowledge acquired through a four-year college education or equivalent experience.

Experience:  Minimum five years experience in a directly related Information System role required.  Previous experience in assigned business lines and/or healthcare setting highly desirable.
