Overview

Performs repetitive and complex laboratory analyses. Correlates and interprets laboratory data based on knowledge of physiological conditions affecting test results. Designs, evaluates and implements new methods. Supervises a laboratory section/shift in the absence of the supervisor.

LIS Analyst assists with the management of the Laboratory Information System including daily operations of the Laboratory information system. Responsibilities include database updates and changes, system upgrade testing and validation, interface implementation and support, hardware maintenance and support, system troubleshooting, project management, CAP compliance.

Qualifications

Education Required: Associates Degree required.

Education Preferred: Bachelors Degree in chemical, physical, biological or laboratory science preferred.

License, Certification and/or Registration: Certification as a MT or MLS from a nationally recognized credentialing agency, i.e., ASCP, HEW or AMT

Experience: Four or more years experience as a medical technologist in the lab section/shift strongly preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities: Must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must be able to maintain absolute confidentiality in the handling of patient information.  Absolute integrity and accuracy in the identification and reporting of number and names. Must have the ability to make decisions concerning resources, technical problems, or other needs of the department with minimal direction. Must be self-motivated and have the ability to complete projects with little supervision.
