Overview

The Communication Director manages coordination of department and its programs, including community relations, media relations, publications, advertising, event planning, external communications and promotions; This is a multi-faceted job that requires organizational and multi-tasking skills, and grace under pressure.

Qualifications

Education required: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications or Public Relations from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Minimum of 10 years experience in marketing/public relations required.  Strong writing skills required. 

Additional Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to plan, organize and implement a comprehensive marketing program;
  • Positive attitude and ability to work well as part of a fundraising team of professionals and volunteers;
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to provide ongoing analysis of marketing programs;
  • Motivation, innovation, and creativity in implementing compelling marketing campaigns for Foundation programs and events;
  • Ability to involve and motivate others;
  • Ability to multi-task, organize, plan and follow through with complex projects;
  • Ability work under deadline pressures;
  • Flexibility in hours when projects/events involve evening and weekend work.
  • Outstanding work ethic and commitment to quality work a must!
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Adobe Suite; social media management; website management experience; and email marketing campaign creation and distribution.
  • Strong writing skills required
