Provides on site user support for installation, upgrades and maintenance of all hardware and software in the Voice Network environment. Assists in providing guidance in the area of research, evaluation, selection, development, implementation, and support. Performs preventative maintenance on all network equipment. Troubleshoots and performs repairs when possible and coordinates vendor service as needed. Monitors software and hardware performance and makes software changes to accommodate user needs.
Education:
Require Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred with emphasis in Electronics or Telecommunications. Equivalent experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Experience:
Experience in mechanical or electronic fundamentals helpful. Understanding of concepts of telephony and cabling standards helpful. Knowledge of Windows operating system. Ability to manage a stressful work environment related to changing priorities and critical support needs. Ability to travel to off-site locations. Demonstrated ability to relate to all levels of the user community.
Additional skills/abilities:
Completion of factory training on installed communications equipment or extensive formal training/certification in paging systems, audiovisual systems, or cabling systems. or certification by Network Administrator in fundamentals of Network Administration in a multi-node environment with 2000 to 5000 users. Ability to analyze, coordinate, and manage multiple technologies and concepts effectively. Experienced in project management and establishing protocols for system development. Demonstrate ability to develop an installation plan from start to finish and coordinate the resources needed to complete. Provide input to management staff on complex issues relating to voice communications requirements. Work independently of supervision. Assume the responsibilities of the Network Administrator on an interim basis.
