Operates a switchboard or telephone console to route incoming calls and place outgoing calls. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Oversees scheduling for Switchboard Operators.
• Places outgoing calls for employee which requires operator assistance records such calls,
answers questions regarding patient condition according to established procedure
• Answers “code phone” and pages appropriate information
• Assists in processing mail and patient accounts as time permits
• Answers incoming calls questions, direct visitors to patient rooms, etc.
• Responsible for remaining aware of disaster plan and procedure to follow in the event of a drill or
an actual disaster occurs
• May enter data on records
• Oversees scheduling of Switchboard Operators to ensure there is adequate coverage for the
department
• Efficiently utilizes resources and supplies.
• Proficiently utilizes computer system to access patient information, email, and other required
systems.
• Successfully performs other duties as assigned.
Education Required: High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
Experience: Minimum of 6 months customer service required. Knowledge of computers, and other standard office equipment required.
