Overview

The Controller will support the hospital CFO in directing accounting, accounts payable, payroll, audits, and the financial reporting functions.

The Controller will help in the preparation of both the annual operational and capital budgets. This is an analytical and financial management position that requires working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles, able to do complicated financial tasks including, but not limited to, financial analysis, net revenue projection (contractual adjustments), financial statement preparation, general ledger maintenance, budget analysis and statistics preparation, and monthly closing transaction responsibilities as they relate to the hospital and associated entities.
This position will interface with all levels of leadership and revenue cycle. It will serve as a key function in oversight of the financial performance of the hospital. Additionally, the position will play an integral part in strategic planning and development of key initiatives and growth within the hospital. The position serves as an expert resource for accounting with experience estimating net revenue (revenue calculations, contractuals, and deductions for hospital).

• Prepares and provides for departmental needs with budget guidelines.
• Actively participates in managerial meetings.
• Interviews and selects new employees.
• Provides for training and orientation of new employees.
• Monitors and evaluates the strengths and weaknesses of new employees within the probationary period.
• Enforces Hospital policies and procedures.
• Submits documentation, charges, and medical records in a timely manner.
• Prepares and presents timely and accurate monthly departmental operating reports to Hospital staff and corporate office.
• Organizes and prepares monthly journal entries on a timely basis for the General Ledger.
• Prepares the annual Hospital budget, cost report, and other governmental financial and statistical reports.
• Monitors Hospital cash receipts and disbursement for accuracy and internal control.
• Prepares working papers for audits.
• Maintains accurate records for filing financial and payroll related papers.
• Monitors the reconciliation on a monthly basis all bank accounts to the General Ledger.
• Monitors, maintains and updates all third party contract files for accounting documentation.
• Leads the internal audit function to keep facility within corporate financial policies and procedures.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications


Education Required
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or Business required

Education Preferred
• Master's degree or CPA preferred

Experience
• Minimum (5) five years financial accounting experience is required.
• Minimum (2) two years supervisory experience is preferred.
• Healthcare and not-for-profit experience is preferred.
• Experience with Lawson is preferred.
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Demonstrated problem solving ability and ability to work independently.
