Overview

Responsible for the efficiency and effectiveness of departmental operations on a daily basis in accordance with administrative and fiscal directives of the hospital. Incumbent on this position is a commitment to the delivery of competent and contemporary patient care supported by lines of communications and coordination with physicians, patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  1. Monitors and evaluates the quality and appropriateness of respiratory, EKG and EEG services with the goal of identifying and resolving problems while improving quality.
  2. Reviews, critiques and implements policies and procedure's applicable to the enforcement and function of the department. Oversees the compliance with applicable federal and state regulatory and licensure requirements. 
  3. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the department in compliance with policies and directives for operation.
  4. Ensures the safe and uninterrupted delivery of services through timely monitoring and maintenance of equipment and supplies. Ensures adequate competent staff to provide optimum services and meet the demands of the departments under their supervision. 
  5. Evaluates personnel performance against established criteria promptly and takes necessary action. Ensures relevant in-service training is conducted and properly documented.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
Education/Licensure: Minimum Associates Degree Respiratory Care, BS degree preferred; Must be licensed in the state of Alabama with NBRC registry
Experience:Five years work experience with minimum two years supervisory experience.
Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
