Job Summary

The HCI Chief Information Officer (CIO) will provide technology vision and leadership in the development and implementation of the affiliate-wide information technology (IT). The CIO will lead the health care network in planning and implementing enterprise information systems to support both distributed and centralized clinical and business operations and achieve more effective and cost beneficial enterprise-wide IT operations.

 

Experience

·         Equivalent experience preferred.

·         Appropriate work experience may be substituted for degree.

·         Minimum of 4 years experience with increasing responsibilities for management and support of healthcare information systems and information technology, direct management of a major IT operation is preferred.

·         Significant experience in a health care setting is required, specifically in technology and information systems planning to support business goals

·         Experience should also include exposure to both shared and outsourced solutions, as well as, support of in-house information and communication systems in a multi-site client-server environment.

·         Specific experience with practice management, financial management and clinical management information systems is a plus.

·         Knowledge of hardware, software, data communications, programming and languages.

·         Skill in gathering information, interpreting needs and processing requirements.

·         Skill in explaining computer systems to users.

  1. Interacts with senior management to plan long range goals and policies related to data processing.
  1. Analyzes and recommends new equipment acquisitions.
  1. Communicates to all departments about new software. Updates systems procedures and completes all projects on schedule.
  1. Responsible for planning, development, evaluation, coordination and management of the information and technology systems for. This includes telephones, data imaging, practice management systems, and office automation.
  1. Oversees ongoing software and hardware training for new and existing staff members.
  1. Works with other managers to meet their information systems goals. Works with all areas regarding system problems and attempts to have resolved in a timely manner.
  1. Ensures that data systems are capable of provision of all patient data and statistics as required by Federal, state and local agencies. Supports the development of patient reports as requested.
  1. Develop and maintain system recovery plan in the event of power failure, damage to system, etc.
  1. Facilitates correction of any system failures contact point for computer problems.
  1. Participates in administrative meetings to ensure interdepartmental communications are effective.
  1. Negotiates contracts for equipment maintenance and acquisition, and software purchases.
  1. Select, train, supervise, evaluate and dismiss, if necessary, the Network Administrator. Assure that the duties and roles assigned to the Network Administrator will be performed during vacations, illnesses, and other cases where the Network Administrator is not available.
  1. Responsible for system integration.
  1. Develops and monitors the approved annual operating and capital budgets for HCI information and technology systems.
  1. Manages relationships with vendors for sales, service and support of all HCI information systems and technology. Ensures problem logs are properly maintained.
  1. Participates in professional development activities to keep current with computer trends and encourages staff development. Keeps abreast of new software packages and equipment potentials with recommendations to the Administrative Team.
  1. Serves as the network administrator and ensures that all network functions are operating at maximum efficiency.
  1. Oversees installation of new hardware and software and ensures adequate staff training.
