The Scheduler for the GI office is responsible for scheduling all patient activities, including but not limited to, physician appointments, treatments, outpatient endoscopies, procedures, documenting H&P, and discerning appropriate prep for each patient and procedure. The scheduler is responsible for verifying insurance coverage for all scheduled events and acquiring any necessary precertification’s or authorizations.

• Preparing paperwork for daily procedure schedule (Surgical orders, H&P, cardiac clearance, pre-cert’s to Day surgery, admitting, and endoscopy
• Follows up diligently with resources and patients
• Documents appropriately in the chart/ EMR accurately and timely
• Handles account inquiries timely, accurately and courteously
• Ability to assume responsibility and take initiative
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to communicate and coordinate with healthcare professionals about schedules, patients, or changes.

EDUCATION:

 High School Diploma or GED strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

One year of experience in pre-cert/ scheduling, Familiar with medical terminology
