Overview

Responsible for clinical, consultative and educational activities that identifies and facilitates processes to address the learning needs of staff. Accountable for developing and monitoring clinical orientation for nursing services, policies and procedures, and opportunities for staff development. Works closely with Education Director and departmental educators to ensure quality.

Responsibilities

  • Provides effective educational instruction for hospital personnel upon department request, I. plan, needs assessment, committee recommendation, TJC standards.
  • Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of clinical educational
  • Coordinates and provides educational programs for community per hospital
  • Advises and/or facilitates development of standards, clinical policies and Maintains compliance of TJC clinical standards for staff.
  • Coordinates educational activities for employees of Helen Keller Hospital. Monitors and documents new Helen Keller Hospital employee performance throughout the orientation
  • Responsible for educating assigned employees on practice
  • Collaborates and participates in interviewing, education, performance evaluations, and performance improvement.
  • Serves as resource to department directors and nurse Serves as resource and role model to staff.
  • Maintains awareness of assigned departmental needs, new developments and practice changes.

Qualifications

Education/Licensure/Certifications BSN Preferred. Current Alabama RN license or a current multi-state RN license. ACLS, BLS, and PALS Instructor Status required before the conclusion of the orientation period.

Experience Minimum of five years’ experience as a staff nurse. Prefer recent management and/or instructor experience. Specialty experience preferred.

Additional Skills/Abilities Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly. Must have knowledge of all equipment and materials required for procedures described in the Nursing Services Policies and Procedures. Must be proficient in use of computer, to include word processing and spreadsheet applications.
