Overview

This is the liaison between patients and families in the Emergency Department. This position will respond to the needs of the patients/families/visitors and provide support to all staff. This position will receive direction from the Director of Emergency Services at Madison Hospital. Additional, in an effort to sustain and improve our service culture and the hospitals HCAHPS and patient experience performance, the liaison will address wait times for service, procedures and results. This position will assist with elopements and respond to allegations of rudeness of staff. Responsibilities

Education required: High School/ GED completion

Education preferred: Bachelors degree in health administration, social work, psychology, nursing, communications or public relations preferred.

Experience: Two to five years experience in health-related professions, public relations or communication fields.

Additional Skills/Abilities: Strong interpersonal and high level of effective communication, verbal, written and phone skills required. Must have the ability to make quality, independent decisions and demonstrate a high degree of critical thinking ability. Strong problem-solving, counseling, complaint management mediation, conflict negotiation and crisis intervention and other conflict resolution skills are a must. Must be able to function objectively in hostile, sensitive, and stressful situations, "think on ones feet", manage stress and anticipate and improvise when needed. Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good empathetic listener and considers the needs of others. Must be detail- oriented, self-directed and can function independently. Excellent time management and organizational skills are a must. The ability to prioritize, follow-through and multi-task while remaining patient/customer focused are a must. Good stand-up and solid presentation skills are needed. Must be comfortable before large groups and effective in communicating information and new ideas. Ability to work at all levels of the organization and represent Huntsville Hospital to the patients/families/visitors/coworkers and physicians in manner consistent with our mission, vision, values and the Power of Excellence is a must. Must successfully collaborate with counterparts within the work area and throughout organization. Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of records and information.
