Overview

Copies and faxes consults to the hospital.  Prepares schedules for satellites.  Prepares Home Health charts and orders.  Makes pacer charts.  Cross-trains with other staff to provide coverage at all times.

 

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Requires sitting, standing and walking.  Requires frequent bending, stooping or stretching.  Requires pleasant phone voice.  May require lifting up to 50 pounds.  Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.  Requires the ability to distinguish letters or symbols.  Requires the use of office equipment including, but not limited to, computer terminals, telephones, photocopiers or fax machines.  Requires normal vision range and the absence of color-blindness.

 

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:  Work is performed in an office environment.  Work may be stressful at times.  Interaction with others is constant and interruptive.  Requires sitting, standing, and walking.

 

Qualifications

Education:  High School Diploma or GED required.

Experience:  Previous experience in the medical field preferred.  Academic classes in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and/or transcription helpful.

Additional Skills/Abilities: 

Knowledge of medical terminology, records filing systems, alphabetical patient index systems, hospital records and scheduling.  Knowledge of the organization’s policies and procedures.  Skill in English grammar and spelling.  Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, physicians, co-workers, and the public.  Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.  Ability to file and maintain patient records, files, reports and other correspondence.  Ability to communicate clearly.  Upholds effective work habits including, but not limited to, regular attendance, teamwork, initiative, dependability and promptness.
