The following statements reflect the general duties considered necessary to describe the principal functions of the job as identified and shall not be considered as a detailed description of all the work requirements, which may be inherent in the position.

The Department Secretary for Surgical Services works directly with the System Wide Director and the Site Director of Surgical Services.  The Primary Purpose of the position is to assist management in operating more efficiently and effectively.

Job duties performed but not limited to:

• Maintains an overall understanding of operations of surgical services
• Develops spread sheets as needed
• Creates ad hoc reports for data collection and interpretation
• Oversees statistical information and utilization of department resources
• Creates graphs or electronic formats for presentation of information
• Maintains accurate surgery schedule
• Interacts with customers on a positive basis to include physician offices, surgeons, staff, and public
• Assists and coordinates the development of special projects
• Takes departmental minutes and distributes to appropriate areas

Education required: High School Graduate or Equivalent.

Education preferred: College level work with business office experience

Abilities/skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Expertise in Word, Excel, CPSI, and power point software. Strong organizational skills. Ability to think independently, decisively, and with good judgment. Self-Motivated. Attentive to Detail. Creative problem solving, resourceful.
