Responsibilities

Under the direction of the physicians and clinical staff the Health Care Assistant supports the assigned
unit by providing the technical patient care services and support related to patients on the nursing floor as
needed. Additionally assists staff, physicians, visitors with routine patient care activities and clerical
support. Patient Care activities can include vital signs, activities of daily living, transport, and transfer of
patients. Clerical support includes directing incoming calls and responding to patient calls, entering
patient charges in the computer system, maintaining patient charts, unit files and secretarial supply levels and being responsible for maintaining a safe and orderly environment.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required
Education: High School graduate or equivalent preferred. BLS required by the conclusion of orientation. Requires previous patient care and/or clerical experience with successful work history. Familiarity with
