Overview

Acts as collaborative member of the Working Fit Occupational Health team by providing quality patient care in accordance with established policies, objectives and goals.  Performs requested occupational health services, gathers vital signs, prepares patient and exam room for physicals or treatment of injury, and collects specimens.  Provides support as needed to assist physician.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and screens patient for appropriate information, prepare for examination by provider.
  • Assists provider in examination and treatment of patient, preparing necessary paperwork, equipment, etc.
  • Assist with preforming physicals and/or DOT exams
  • Administers the following test: hearing, POC drug test, Breath Alcohol, pulmonary function, mask fit, eye exam, health screenings and other test as required; may be performed off site.
  • Specimen collection for testing to include urine, hair, and venipuncture; may be performed of site.
  • Assist physician with work comp injuries: testing, exam, suturing and bandaging
  • Administer vaccines to patients as ordered.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and utilization of critical thinking skills throughout patient care.
  • Documentation meets current standards and policies.
  • Assumes accountability for appropriate utilization of resources

Qualifications

Education: 

High school diploma or GED preferred.  Completion of Certified Medical Assistant Program or 3 years of equivalent experience.  LPN preferred.

 

Experience

Minimum of one-year clinical experience in medical setting.  Phlebotomy experience required.  Experience administering shots preferred. 

 

Additional Skills/Abilities

Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.  Must be able to use computer, fax machine and copy machine. BLS required within six-month provisional period. Knowledge of OSHA requirements and DOT regulations preferred.
