Job Summary:
Responsible for all aspects of decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization and storage of instruments, incorporating all required sterilization tests and safety practices. Responsible for following recommended sterilization standards and device manufacturers’ instructions for instrument reprocessing.
1. Responsible for all aspects of sterile processing: decontamination, preparation, packaging, sterile storage and distribution of sterile supplies.
2. Knowledgeable of operation & use of various types of equipment used to clean and sterilize items. Completes required sterilization documentation legibly.
3. Understands principles of sterilization and infectious disease transmission.
4. Demonstrates basic knowledge of aseptic technique.
5. Understands importance of work place safety as it relates to medical device processing and sterilization.
6. Good problem solving skills. Able to evaluate surgery schedule and prioritize needs. Relays relevant information to appropriate team members.
7. Follows instructions, adaptable to change, accountable.
8. Takes call for instrument reprocessing on a rotating basis.
Education: High school graduate, sterile processing certification preferred
Experience: None required
Position requires individual that is able to work independently. Must have attention to detail.
Able to stand for long periods of time, lift heavy pans and push carts.
