Job Summary:

Demonstrates through behavior Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values.

Under supervision develops and provides therapeutic activities appropriate to the physical and developmental age of the patient with a primary focus on a safe environment

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

1.   Completes comprehensive Activity assessment and develops indicated activity plan with approved time frame. Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.

2.   Provides a variety of age specific therapeutic activities and recreational interventions. Child,       Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.

3.   Conducts special events as assigned.  Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.

4.   Escorts patients to and from the unit safely.

5.   Attends and participates in Treatment Team meeting, maintaining current documentation of patient’s progress toward identified goals.

6.   Motivates patients to participate in scheduled activities within their identified physical and mental capabilities.  Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.

7.  Clear and concise documentation relating to patient observations and interactions Child, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric.

8.  Adheres to policies and procedures and demonstrates practices that ensure a safe environment for patients, visitors, co-workers and self.

9.  Accurately follows directions of Educational Services Coordinator and licensed personnel.

10. CPR certification.

11. MOAB/CPI certification.

Qualifications

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:

-Uses common sense and special skill to care for patients.

-Understands technical information applicable to job function and caring for patients.

-Responds quickly in an emergency with appropriate action.

- Communicates with people.

- Changes from one duty to another frequently.

- Follows and/or gives precise instructions.

- Records and interprets information accurately.

 

Education:

Two year college or 3 years related work experience mental health.

3 years mental health
