Job Summary: Professionally and courteously interview patients and/or family members to obtain accurate and complete demographic, financial, and medical information for the registration/admission process and patient identification. Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits. Estimates patient responsibility and collects. Provides a smooth flow of patients through the registration areas. Demonstrates through behavior, Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision and values.
Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions1. Greets and interviews patients to verify identity, obtain complete and accurate demographic and insurance information.2. Verifies patient insurance benefits and eligibility, pre-certification status (if required) and patient address. 3. Determines patient responsibility and collects any amount due or attempts to establish payment arrangements. 4. Completes registrations/pre-registrations in a timely manner. 5. Completes necessary forms for patient admission. 6. Escorts or directs patient to the proper location. 7. Functions as a liaison between departments and physician offices. 8. Must be able to multi-task, work reception desk, sign patients in, answer phones, give directions, etc. 9. Provides coverage in other registration areas as needed. |
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required:Education: High School diploma or GED Experience: 6 months experience in working with the public, computer experience, collections experience. |
