Responsibilities

  1. Assist Caring House Coordinator with planning and the establishment of The Caring House support groups and services.
  2. Assist in the planning of age appropriate grief activities and conduct Caring House support groups.
  3. Attend and participate in Caring House Committee, Staff, and other meetings relating to The Caring House and Hospice Family Care.
  4. Participates in decision making regarding program development, training, etc.
  5. Respond to school and other community crises, upon request; offer services proactively to schools and community groups when crises occur (crisis intervention).
  6. Assist with coordinating special events of The Caring House and Hospice Family Care.
  7. Assist with Caring House intake calls.
  8. Assist Hospice Family Care families and their bereaved children through pre and post bereavement visits.
  9. Assess and process Caring House telephone intakes, orientations, and tours.
  10. Generate monthly reports including such information as: number of intakes, community contacts, speaking engagements, and others, as appropriate.
  11. Maintain proper documentation.
  12. Assist with Caring House administrative tasks.
  13. Make patient care visits as assigned.
  14. Perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Have background in counseling or ministry with appropriate degrees in psychology, counseling, social work, or a health related area.
  2. Possess a high level of written and oral communication skills with a thorough knowledge of the dynamics of childhood grief and bereavement.
  3. Have a minimum of 2 year experience in individual and group settings with children and families regarding grief/bereavement process.
  4. Must be a good public speaker.
  5. Must be able to use computer documentation program.
  6. Must have valid Alabama driver’s license and automobile liability insurance. Education:  Require Bachelor’s degree in family and child development, child life social work or related field from an accredited college or university.
