Overview

Director reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and is directly responsible for directing and coordinating the Senior Care Unit in a manner reflective of the Hospital’s philosophy and objective for maintaining required supplies and staffing.

This position is responsible for day-to-day operational management of clinical support activities and functions in the Geriatric Psych department.

Responsibilities

  1. Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, medical or employment status of patients of facility and their families.
  2. Must follow accepted safety practices for patients and hospital.
  3. Must report safety hazards and initiate appropriate action.
  4. Must participate in safety instructional programs.
  5. It is understood that the RN is responsible for supervisoing duties of licensed practical nurse and certified nursing asssistant. 

 

Qualifications

Education: Must possess a current Alabama Registered Nurse License, have demonstrated proficiency in written and verbal communications; possess ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and have at least three years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment.

ExperienceDesirable characteristics include a BSN, with a minimum of two years supervisory experience. MSN preferred. Must be able to follow directions and to perform work according to department standards when no directions are given. Must be emotionally mature and able to function effectively under stress.

License/certificates:  Licensed by Alabama Board of Nursing.  BLS and ACLS Certified
