The Emergency Medical Dispatcher performs a wide variety of activities related to the request for Emergency Medical Services (Ambulance) from in hospital departments and from out side members of the community. This position assures that there is someone dedicated to answering of the E911 communications lines. The Communications Center is operated on a 24 hour, 7 days a week format and the hospital dedicated emergency number. Provides dispatch services for the hospital in the receipt and processing of request for assistance. Creates and logs on the incident log all communications and processes a time log. The dispatcher also processes the initial information for filing ambulance service charges/insurance and enters data in the hospital automated computer system. Also take requests and assigns staff for other services requested by in hospital staff, i.e. EKGs, assistance in Emergency Dept. etc.
Graduate of an accredited High School or GED with a certification in Emergency Medical Dispatch within one year of employment. Must possess the ability to speak concisely and distinctly; able to handle multiple tasks; work under stressful conditions; previous computer experience; and human relations and effective communication skills required.
